When we think of adventure, we tend to imagine the extraordinary.


A faraway destination. A life-changing experience. A dramatic story worth telling.


But my mornings in Bangkok began much like any other day. Coffee, laptop, meetings. Work.


Small everyday adventures happened in between. Sometimes beginning with something as ordinary as stepping into a cafe or opening a restaurant menu. Small choices to a world of possibilities.


Thai pork blood noodles that would not be found back home. Some of the best Mexican tacos I’ve had outside Latin America. Traditional Thai glutinous coconut jelly sweets (Khanom Chan) I’d never heard of.   

Or no menu at all at a hidden speakeasy. The bartender only asked how I was feeling and crafted a Thai chili cocktail to pair with my mood.


Leaving room for the unexpected was part of these small everyday adventures.

There were dinners and drinks with friends in new places. Evening walks in the middle of the city. Sunsets on quiet rooftop bars. A quaint cafe lined with nostalgic books and other quirky neighborhood gems. Inspiring conversations with people I would not meet again.


The simple act of choosing the unfamiliar made those weeks feel alive.

Not every adventure needs to lead to a new city, a new job or a completely different chapter.


Sometimes it’s about choosing something we don’t already know. A different dish. An un-walked street. A chat with a stranger.


Moments of making small choices: to stay curious, embrace the unfamiliar and remain open to possibility.
